May 2008 Prayer Update

PRAYER UPDATE FOR MAY 2008

Wow! May was definitely an eventual month. So many things happened from me turning 40 to two deaths in the preschool and dangerous situations in Khayelitsha. But God is in control of all things and he is good. Check out my blog for further stories.

As most of you know by now I love being a missionary. I think I found my passion. I find life so fulfilling here when I serve the Lord. It feels so good to be in God’s will. I have come to a decision to be a full-time missionary. My plans are to come back home and raise more money to come back to South Africa and finish what I started. I am only going to stay for another year or two because I truly believe in training the local people to take over my job. Once this is established I will find another place where I am needed. When I come home I have to close my life in Canada by selling my place and getting rid of all my worldly possessions in my storage room. I have a lot of mixed feeling about this next step of my life. It will be a sad time, but also a time of excitement for a new chapter in my life. I will sell my condo and buy another one on the Island where my family can take care of it so I don’t have to worry about it when I am so far away from home. This will be an investment for me when I retire. I am planning to come back in December because I want to finish the school year here. Please pray for the following items:

Praise items:

· I Turned 40 and I am still alive!

· Enjoying my ministry even though it has it challenges.

· Getting to know the teachers better on a personal level.

· Enjoying my relationships with the people who live in the mission house.

· 5 schools received playgrounds and fences.

·

Prayer items:

· There is a possibility I have to go home early because the lease on my condo runs out at the end of October and the renters might leave in July because it’s easier for them to find a place to rent in the summer. Pray that it will all work in God’s timing.

· Pray for my old car. The person who wanted to buy it has backed out of the deal and I still have it. Help me to be wise in figuring out what to do with it next.

· Pray for the Xenophobia problems in South Africa and for safety for everyone who is involved in this situation.

· Pray for the problems that occur on the daily basis in the schools (miscommunication, jealousy).

· Pray for the teachers that lost their sister or husband.

· Continue to pray that I find the right people to help me coordinate the LOVEa ministry.

· Pray that I will continue to build a strong foundation for the LOVEa ministry.

· Pray that I will continue to build a deeper relationships with all the teachers of each school.

· To be wise in trying to figure out of to teach the curriculum I brought from Canada so that it can fit into the African culture.

· Pray for my oldest brother Sammy who is in a coma right now.

For The Kingdom,

Glory
